Hi, I'm Kate Sanson and I am actually a native Floridian.

I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1973 and grew up in Boca Raton. I graduated from college in 1995 and on a whim decided to move to northwestern New Jersey in May 1996. I wound up in Blairstown, NJ where I trained in Shotokan Karate for nearly six years and also met my husband to be, Matt Sanson.

From 1998 – 2000, Matt and I owned and helped operate our karate dojo. We got married in October 2000 and relocated to Pensacola, Florida in May 2001 for military purposes. We continue to train on our own and presently teach a basic self-defense course designed for non-martial artists. We have been fortunate enough to train with several different people including: O-Sensei Brian Fey, executive director of the SKJF (Shotokan Karate Japanese Federation) who is also a police officer in Tampa Bay, FL; Sensei Elisa Hendrey, specializing in Women’s Self-Defense on Long Island; and Sensei Major Matt Michaelson, instructor for “Hand to Hand Combat” at West Point Military Academy located in New York.

Though Karate continues to play a major role in our lives, Yoga has really enhanced that role.

Yoga for us is all about the breath; without the breath you cannot live!
